To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
A track record of success in consultative, solutions-oriented sales, with a strong preference given to media sales experience.
- A demonstrated understanding of needs-based selling and experience with prospecting, building and managing a pipeline, conducting needs analysis, developing solutions and writing proposals, and presenting proposals and closing deals.
Marketing skills to leverage social media.
Proven success in increasing sales in a competitive marketplace.
Experience with digital media sales is strongly preferred, but at a minimum you will need a passion for all things digital.
Experience in any of the following verticals is a plus: Real Estate, Recruitment, Automotive.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience with a leading CRM / sales management application, ideally salesforce.com.
A bachelor's degree is preferred.
You also will need the following characteristics and competencies:
Strong self-motivation, goal orientation and a high-energy, positive approach.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
The ability to multi-task, handle pressure and work under deadlines in a goal-oriented sales environment.
A team player, can-do attitude.
These are outside roles and you will need a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and verifiable automobile insurance. You may travel overnight, but it will be rare.
We are building out a top-notch team of Multimedia Account Executives in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile. Depending on your location, background and aptitude, we may assign you to a generalist role, to a role representing our suite of magazine products, or to a role focusing on Real Estate, Recruitment or Automotive.
Whatever the role, your mission will be to grow new and existing business by representing the Alabama Media Group's total audience solutions product suite and by ensuring that campaigns are properly implemented, monitored and optimized. You'll meet with clients through a consultative, needs-based selling approach to create custom multi-platform advertising campaigns that exceed customer expectations. The product suite includes graphical display ads on AL.com and ad networks, mobile, video, text, apps, digital directories, search engine marketing, search engine optimization, social media optimization and creative campaigns in award-wining, local newspapers, direct mail campaigns and more.
In some roles you may start with an existing book of business, but in all cases we'll look to you to take an aggressive approach to finding new business; you can expect to invest a significant amount of time prospecting for new business. Because of the consultative nature of the approach, sales cycles are longer and closing on the first call is never
a goal. You'll need to do a thorough needs analysis, taking into account the target audience, the customer's goals and the project budget, and then create an ad campaign that uses the right mix of our products.
Your specific activities will include:
